This blog is a collection of random details about my 23 night trip about the CMA CGM Libra, a 364 m long French owned container ship, as a passenger, from Oakland Harbor in California, USA to Container Terminal #9 in Hong Kong, and all spots in between. As I was trying to get away from it all, this blog is by no means exhaustive, but it gave me a chance to get things off of my chest while I was cruising, and I hope the info might be helpful to others.
The trip was both fun, exciting, and exceedingly relaxing.. after my time, I could probably have turned around and gone straight back to Long Beach on the next leg without hating myself too much, but a good friends wedding and more adventure awaited me in Southeast Asia. I was just getting comfortable with life on board, perhaps a bit tired of the food, but the pace of life and the isolation from the outside world were working the magic I wanted them to. It was an exciting way to travel, perhaps not exotic in the old world ways of wooden ships and months at sea, not so much a challenge as a rest, but it was close enough to be respected, and if I have my way, I will do it again.
Enjoy!
