About

This was an effort begun in December of 2012 to understand not only the logistics of climbing the Highest Mountain in the nation of Colombia, which has had no confirmed ascents in 20 or more years, but also the story of this impressive geographic feature. If the effort so far hasn’t satisfied all of my Indiana Jones fantasies, it has come closer than I expected a few times, the north side especially, and has involved intrigues and indigenous groups I should have expected from Colombia, and now am starting to find pretty satisfying.
Colombia is waking up from 50 years of war, and I don’t think even it knows what it has to offer. Buried under 50 years of trauma and distraction appears to be a time capsule with some delights reminiscent of your grandfather’s National Geographic Magazines. Please enjoy what I have found so far.
